Keyword Research

Keyword research is the most important and valuable part of your SEO process. Without keyword research, you can’t perform SEO. This is a process by which you will find your target keyword and use that keyword to implement SEO tactics on your webpage.

So how to find your target keyword?

You need to think about your target audience to whom you want to find this webpage. Think about the topic of your webpage and come up with some keywords that your potential customers will search for.

Once you have those keywords, use tools like Google Keyword Planner or Ubbersuggest.

Let’s take an example with ubbersuggest.

Go to Ubbersuggest and plug that word into the search box and search for it.

Based on search volume and your audience, you can decide your target keyword. Once you decide on target keyword, you can use that keyword in your webpage to boost your ranking.

Start title tag with your keyword

Meta Title of your webpage is the most important factor for SEO. It is advisable to add your keyword first in your title tag.

If you are not able to do that, don’t worry. Just try to keep it close to the beginning of your title tag. Google will give more weightage to such pages.

Additionally, you can add related keywords or words to your meta description tag. This will help you increase your visibility.

Add your title tag in H1 tag

Every webpage will have a title and it is recommended to add that title in the H1 tag.

It is important to follow the headline tag structure in your webpage. Use H1 for the main title, H2 for its subheading and so on till H6. However, it’s not necessary to use all the tags.

Most CMS(Content Management System) like WordPress will have the H1 tag for a website or blog heading. But I would suggest you check your webpage source code once to confirm.

Add your target keyword in first 100 words

You should add your target keyword in your webpage content. But don’t stuff too many keywords otherwise Google won’t rank it.

Now, if you have added that target keyword in the first 100 words, you are making it easier for Google to find that keyword. So you are increasing your chances of getting higher rankings.

So add your keyword in your first paragraph of the content.

Add internal and external links on your page

Adding a link on your webpage is a way to tell Google about your webpage’s topic. If you add the external link which is very relevant to your content or topic, you are giving a signal to Google to understand that topic.

You can link your other article or page and that internal link will help Google understand your overall website topic. It will give some good value to those pages.

So if you use the right strategy to link internal and external pages, it will boost your SEO.

Optimize page URL by adding your keyword

Your page URL is the first thing that Google will come across. And, URL is one of the ranking factor for Google. Adding a target keyword in your URL will increase your visibility in search engine.

Additionally, you should keep your URL short. It will help you rank better in Google.

Boost your website speed

If your website is not loading in 3 seconds, your visitor is more likely to go away. Website speed is the most important part of your website and Google has also started considering website speed as one of their major ranking factors.

You can optimize your images and use lazyload to improve your loading time. You can even use CDN(Content Delivery Network).

CDN will load your website from your visitor’s region. It save your webpage to multiple locations and load it from nearby region. So your website loads faster.

You can use Google Page Speed or Webpagetest to check your website performance. It will give you good insights on where you can optimize your website to improve speed.

For mobile website speed optimization, you can use AMP from Google. It will help you load your website quickly on mobile devices.

Responsive Design

Responsive design is the approach of designing a website based on screen-size, devices, and orientation.

So, why you should care about responsive design?

The answer is Mobile-first indexing.

Google has officially announced rolling out of Mobile-first Indexing. Mobile-first indexing means that mobile version of your website will be considered first by Google as SEO ranking factor. This is why Responsive Design is very important.

You can achieve this by using media queries in CSS. And If you are using WordPress, use a responsive theme which supports all the devices.

Bottom line?

Test your website in mobile, tablet and desktop view before you publish it and make sure it works well across all the devices.

Get backlinks

Backlinks are important when it comes to SEO. More backlinks give a signal to Google that more sites are linking to your website means contents are worth linking to. So Google will keep them higher in search rankings.

You also have to make sure that you get the backlink from relevant websites. Content should be relevant when you get the backlink from other websites. If you are getting a backlink from any site which is not relevant to your niche, it won’t be considered.
