The problem

I have spent 17+ years inside marketing teams rather than adjacent to them. Most of that was operator work: owning the number, not presenting a deck about it. When I ran marketing for a SaaS hospitality company, I learned that the constraint is almost never the channel. It is the system feeding it.
That is what I do now. I diagnose why a company is losing visibility as search moves to AI answers, and I redesign the marketing system underneath so the output reaches revenue. AI tools for SEO fall into a few categories: content optimisation, keyword and intent research, technical crawling, and the newer AI visibility trackers that show whether AI answers cite you. Each speeds up part of the work, but none replaces the judgement that decides what to fix first. Pick tools by the job you need done, not by the length of a features list.
The generative engine optimization strategies that work match how AI builds an answer: make your content retrievable by AI crawlers, make your identity consistent so a model knows who you are, structure key answers so they extract cleanly, and earn independent corroboration. The winning move is to fix your lowest broken layer first, not to spread effort thinly across tactics.
ChatGPT is useful for the research and drafting parts of SEO: clustering keywords, building content briefs, and drafting titles and meta descriptions. It is unreliable on live facts, and publishing its raw output at scale tends to lower rankings, not raise them. Keep an editor on every output, and never let it invent numbers or sources.
